Rural zoning predicts Canola growth in six states


The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) published on Diário Oficial da União (DOU) this Thursday (15), the rural zoning of Canola to the states of Paraná, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Mato Grosso do Sul and Goiás. The study also refers to planting of the second harvest of beans in Acre and the first in Sergipe. Besides, the cities of Alagoas and Sergipe were indicated as the most favorable places for the growth of beans caupi, peanut, maize, sorghum, sunflower, sesame, cassava, milet and herbaceous cotton.

Canola is a plant from the cruciferous family and it is grown in Brazil in the winter only. Originally from cold temperate regions, canola adapts well under weather conditions of the South Region, where it is tolerant to low temperatures.
